A former Detroit city official who oversaw multimillion-dollar contracts pleaded guilty today to bribery, admitting he received more than $29,500 in cash bribes and a trip to North Carolina from companies he gave preferential treatment to.
Charles L. Dodd Jr., 46, of Canton, the former director of Detroit’s Office of Departmental Technology Services (DTS), was charged with bribery on Sept. 15. But the charging document wasn’t unsealed until today, the same day he pleaded guilty to pocketing bribes over a period of seven years from businessmen who were looking for favors in the contracting process.
