ATLANTA – There was not an elephant in a room.

The visiting manager’s office at Turner Field is certainly too small for that, especially with a dozen reporters crowded inside after the Detroit Tigers’ season ended Sunday afternoon.

But as manager Brad Ausmus answered questions about what went wrong earlier in the day against the Atlanta Braves and the team’s inconsistency throughout the season, ultimately leading to them missing the postseason for a second straight year, one question loomed largest: Would Ausmus be the man to lead them in 2017?
