The Honorable Thaddeus G. McCotter served southeast Michigan as a United States Representative from 2003-2012.  One of the smartest members and most effective communicators in Congress (granted, it’s a low bar), McCotter was twice elected by his colleagues to serve in leadership as the Chairman of the Republican House Policy Committee – at the time, the 4th highest ranking position in the GOP caucus.  McCotter also variously served on the Foreign Affairs, Financial Services, Small Business, Budget and Joint Economic Committees; and he was the recipient of scores of legislative and community awards.

Prior to his Congressional tenure, McCotter who never lost an election, was elected to and served in numerous Michigan Republican Party leadership posts; as Schoolcraft Community College Trustee, Wayne County Commissioner and State Senator.  As a result, McCotter possesses a unique breadth of knowledge and intimate experience regarding policy and politics.

The Gen X guitarist McCotter, has garnered a national following of fans due to numerous TV and radio appearances, including Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld and The Dennis Miller Show.  Currently a co-hosts Monday nights on the nationally syndicated John Batchelor Show and appears as a commentator on Fox Business’ The Independents and CTS’ The Arena with Michael Coren (Canada).  McCotter has authored two public policy books – Seize Freedom! American Truths & Renewal in a Chaotic Age and Liberty Risen: The Ultimate Triumph of Libertarian Republicans.  He has also written pieces for countless publications and blogs; and even composed and performed on the song American Faith, which was used to raise funds for the late Andrew Breitbart’s children.  Indeed, after four years out of office, McCotter retains over 35,000 Twitter followers and the maximum 5,000 Facebook friends.

An all-state football player at Detroit Catholic Central High School, McCotter graduated 1st in his class summa cum laude with honors from the University of Detroit, and then earned his law degree from the University of Detroit School of Law. A bar-admitted attorney by profession, McCotter lives in southeast Michigan with his wife Rita.  They have three children, George, Tim and Emilia.
