Former Detroit Tiger and Cy Young Award winner Denny McLain is taking on a new show at Detroit’s 910 AM Superstation, the station announced Wednesday.

McLain is replacing Monica Conyers after she was fired from the station in a controversy related to her expenses there, according to a Detroit Free Press article.

The former MLB pitcher’s new Sunday slot at the station from 1-3 p.m. starts April 9, but will not be about baseball. Rather, it will revolve around “life and politics,” the announcement said.

But to celebrate Tigers opening day on Friday, McLain will be live with 910 AM Superstation hosts at Centre Park Bar, 1407 Randolph St., starting 11 a.m.
