Former Detroit Tiger and Cy Young Award winner Denny McLain is taking on a new show at Detroit’s 910 AM Superstation, the station announced Wednesday. McLain is replacing Monica Conyers after she was fired from the station in a controversy related to her expenses there, according to a Detroit Free Press article. The former MLB pitcher’s new Sunday slot at the station from 1-3 p.m. starts April 9, but will not be about baseball. Rather, it will revolve around “life and politics,” the announcement said. Wayne State University To Open Food Pantry

According to USANEWS.COM, Detroit’s Wayne State University is the latest U.S. educational institution to offer a food pantry for students. School officials say The W, which opens Sunday on campus, will provide perishable and nonperishable food, toiletries, women’s hygiene products and other supplies. Students are eligible to visit twice monthly for up to two grocery bags of products, and a third visit will be granted based on need.
