Lawyers representing the family of a 12-year-old girl mortally injured in a car crash that police say was caused by a 12-time drunken driver admonished the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday for not doing more to keep him off the streets.

“Unfortunately, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office didn’t take this as seriously as they should have because had the Prosecutor’s Office caught this early on and not made deals, we wouldn’t be here today,” said attorney Danien Woodson, serving as spokeswoman for the family of Victoria Mack, who was killed in July when police say a car driven by Charles Cahill slammed into the back of the family’s minivan.
