Meijer launches ‘Shop & Scan’ program to speed up checkout time

Following a successful pilot, Meijer plans to roll out a streamlined checkout service dubbed Shop & Scan. The supercenter retailer said Monday that Shop & Scan “dramatically decreases checkout time” by allowing customers to scan bar codes on items as they shop and then bag their groceries as they navigate the store. The Shop & Scan service is slated to be deployed to more Meijer stores in the upcoming weeks and become available at all 235 stores by the end of this summer. Former first lady Barbara Bush is in failing health, and will not seek additional medical care after a series of recent hospitalizations for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and congestive heart failure.
